Parole Officer Careers in New Haven, Connecticut

In May 2013, the Connecticut House of Representatives passed a bill that would allow juvenile offenders who are serving long sentences in the state an opportunity for parole.  The case of a juvenile from New Haven County who committed a murder at age 15 and has been imprisoned for the past 33 years was used as an example of a felon who could receive parole as early as the fall of 2013. If a juvenile committed a crime at age 14, for example, on a sentence of 20 years he or she would be eligible for parole at age 26.

This would not guarantee an automatic parole release for those who committed crimes as juveniles, but would require the Connecticut judicial system to review these cases to see if they are appropriate for parole. If the state passes the bill, this could greatly increase the caseload for those with parole officer careers in New Haven and for those working throughout the state.
